About Leamington Brakes FC: Formed 2006
In 2006, Kevin Hancock and Mick Haynes were invited to a Board Meeting to formally put the case forward for starting a small separate junior club associated with Leamington F.C., with the potential to grow and become fully affiliated at some time in the future.
The end result was a completely new club called Leamington Brakes Football Club which is financially independent and separately registered with the F.A. but attached to the Senior Club and completely transparent in all dealings.
The philosophy of the club is :” To have fun and learn the Game”.
The Aims and Objectives are to to give children from the community, of varying abilities, the opportunity to play football within a safe and controlled environment.
This season we are running eight teams ranging from under 8 to under 14. All these will play in the John Bryan Coventry Minor League, home venues at Kingsway School and the new Harbury Lane Playing Fields complex.
Teams wear a Gold and Black kit identical to that of the senior team, with the club badge and manufactured by Joma, though each team’s shirts will bear individual sponsor’s names. The under 13s, who are sponsored by BPS, will wear the current red “away” strip for season 2007-2008.
All teams are be managed and coached by F.A. Level 1 coaches, who as part of their qualification become certified in Child Protection and First Aid. In addition the under 14s team is managed by Simon Graham, a Level 2 coach, who is working towards his UEFA A qualification. All involved with the club, be they players, parents, managers, coaches or officials, receive and sign for a copy of the club’s Code of Conduct which makes clear the behaviour and standards required at all times.
A major factor in the success of the club is the number of Leamington F.C. supporters who have come forward to get involved in management and coaching. The majority of these people are in their 20s and 30s. Not only do they bring energy and ideas to compliment the experience of the club officials but they are the people who will hopefully take on the reigns in the years to come and have a genuine interest in ensuring the future success of the club as a whole.
It is the intention that every new season we will introduce a new under 8 team to continue the process of growth from within year upon year. In three years time we will then have squads at all junior age groups and potentially a Leamington F.C. youth team having been formed partly through the Community Development Programme.
We are currently working towards achieving F.A. Charter Standard for Leamington Brakes F.C. by early 2008, something only a few local clubs have so far aspired to. The Club Policies regarding the Club Constitution and Rules, Child Protection, Equality and Code of Conduct can be found at the Downloads section of this website.
The enthusiasm for this project from all quarters is plain to see and has the makings of providing a seamless development from junior to senior football as well encouraging children and parents to become part of the rolling giant that is Leamington Football Club.
